Alex Smith

Founder, Sita Landscapes LLC

Alex has been working in the landscape industry for over 20 years. He grew up in New England, with outdoor chores through all four seasons in planting, lawn care, mulching and snow removal. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut, putting himself through college by working as a union mason laborer. He quickly saw the connection between economics and construction, writing his senior thesis on the subject, and realized that a career in construction management was his goal.

After graduation, Alex moved into sitework, gaining hands-on experience in excavation, grading, hardscapes, concrete, and asphalt while learning to manage projects from bidding through installation. In 2016, ready for a new chapter and a break from snowplows, he relocated to California and has since led landscape construction projects across the state.

His portfolio includes notable projects such as Francisco Park, Uber Misson Bay, Big Sur residences, One Maritime Plaza, and the UCSC Amphitheater. Over the past decade, Alex has worked with respected firms learning from leaders in all areas of the landscape industry including Monarch, K&D Landscaping, Rana Cohabitat, and The Burns Company,

Now with Sita Landscapes LLC, Alex brings over 20 years of experience to deliver thoughtful, lasting outdoor spaces. He intends to go beyond traditional “mow, blow, and go” service—offering intentional landscape management with plans tailored to your specific needs and long-term goals. Whether enhancing aesthetics, supporting ecological function, or planning phased improvements, Alex takes a collaborative, detail-driven approach to help clients get the most from their landscapes—now and in the future.
